First time with the US President !
The aim of this sixth test was to push the limits of the Starship.
The Super Heavy booster successfully lifted off with all 33 Raptor engines and Starship on the top.
Following a nominal ascent and stage separation, the booster successfully transitioned to its boost back burn to begin the return to launch site. During this phase, automated health checks of critical hardware on the launch and catch tower triggered an abort of the catch attempt.
The booster then executed a pre-planned divert maneuver, performing a landing burn and soft splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico.
AS ALWAYS, SPACEX ´S TOP PRIORITY IS SAFETY !
Starship then continued its ascent unhindered.
The Ship successfully reignited a single Raptor engine while in space demonstrating the capabilities required to conduct a ship deorbit burn before starting fully orbital missions.
The ship successfully made it through reintry and executed a flip landing burn and soft splashdown in the Indian Ocean.
The flight provided SpaceX with valuable information for the future.
The images of the flight provided by Starlink were breathtaking.
For the first time the President – elect of the USA attended the event, proving the importance of the moment.
Flight 7 is already scheduled with some significant changes and as Elon Musk says: « excitement is guaranteed ».
LET’S GO STARSHIP !
